Tidbits

Needing to record memorable Wigglyisms.

Starting with today's: (1/17/13) heard PJ asking Wiggly if it was GM he heard calling for Wiggly. Wiggly's response: “eh Mommy Pa John” PJ: “Oh Mommy ok.” Wiggly: “My Mommy Pa John.” Ahhh! Music to my ears.

Yesterday on the way to town we met the “grater guy” working with the gravel on the road. Wiggly: “What's he doing Mommy?” Mommy: He's grating the road buddy; fixing the road.” Wiggly: “For me Mommy?” HA!!! Even Daddy had to say something on this one: you're not self-centered or anything are you buddy?” Mommy: “Yeah Buddy, for you, me and everybody else who goes on this road.”

For a while now, he holds on to my hand or hands when I ride in the back of Scammie right next to him. When he first did it, we didn't have his buddy “T” and I figured he just needed something else to hold on. Well, since that time, “T” or not, he will ask to hold my hand while riding. Sahweetness!

Christmas 2011, he literally could not stay away from the Christmas tree – he was going to grab a hold of that candy cane no matter how high up on the tree it was. Christmas 2012, he got into only one half of a candy cane before coming to show me what he had done. Every other time, he came and asked permission to eat a “candy cake” before getting one. I put couple of candy canes in his stocking and what does he do? He hung both of it on the Christmas tree to wait for Mommy. My boy is growing up. No broken ornament balls either this past Christmas! 2011 was a completely different story. This Christmas he helped me decorate the tree.

If he's not talking, Wiggly can be heard humming or singing to the tune of: Little Teapot, Hark the Herald Angels (which he's renamed as “Newborn King"), Zacheus was a Little Man, and, Stand Up, Stand Up for “Jesa.” When he has the inkling, he will ask to hear Eiei-o” on the stereo. When he doesn't quite know a song, he will ask for Mommy to start the song or “ching Mommy.” He's fond of Itsy bitsy spider and a couple of other library songs we learned. For about a week or so now, he's been adlibing on some of the songs like: “Stand up, stand up for Mommy!” Or standup, stand up for Appa!” The cutest thing is the Pat a Cake song. “ Mark it with a “B” for “bebe boder” and me!” Seriously! I wish I had that on video. Once I tried substituting it with his name and I heard an insistent “NO!” “Bebe boder and me” Mommy!

Wiggly has picked up some of my uh quirks – like smell food before eating – he doesn't do it very often but I've seen him do it; he then says “yucky Mommy” if he thinks it is. It's inevitable that he'll be doing that in somebody else' house...ugh! So far the worst “incident” is when he went to go hug someone and he turns to me and says, “ he yucky Mommy!” Oi! Wiggly does have a pretty good sense of smell. He will normally sniff the air when he smells something and ask “what dat I mell Mommy?” And if I can't understand what he's trying to ask me, he'll sniff really loud.

Wiggly has also picked up “nah” - a word I've picked back up since we've had Wiggly. It's from my dialect which mostly means “now.” Like he now says “better nah Mommy” or am yarm nah Mommy” (I'm warm nah Mommy.) I think it's so cute. He's also picked up obey right now.” The other day, I was playing around and trying to get his buddy “T” off the bed. Well Wiggly wanted to get T for himself of course and tried to fend Mommy off – to no avail. So finally he goes, “obey Mommy!” I tried some more, and he goes, “obey right now!” HA!!!!

Wiggly now sleeps on a twin bed that's very close to the floor. He has embraced sleeping on his “bunk bed” so well. He thinks it's his bunk bed anyway. It's actually his cousin's. He now calls his crib, “Bebe boder's bed.” It's funny we started him off with sleeping on the full size bed with the trundle bed right next to it in case he fell out. And he did – fall off. He hasn't ever fallen out of the trundle bed... weird.

We're training him to put on his underwear and pants by himself – when successful, he is known to say, “Yay!” and applauds himself. “Good job” can be heard every once in a while too.And when he does have trouble, he is known to either uh, get frustrated and say "I can't" or on a more optimistic day say, "come on pants."

Good job!” That's right, he knows when to say “good job.” He's even said “good job Mommy!” The cutest one was when we went sledding with the cousins. Cousin M sled down and crashed, and posed for the video and Wiggly went over to his cousin, gave him a hug and goes “good job Atah!”

I've not gotten into the habit of writing down new words learned but he's definitely picked up so many – don't believe I can even count them anymore. The most popular phrase these days are: What you doing? Where you going? He likes to use the words tonight and today any time he gets a chance. Yesterday is “yet-t-day.” After is “upper” He actually talks in sentences now – for several weeks now really. Some of the words may not be as clear but he can make himself be understood.

One day while we were riding in the car, UD swerved or something, I gasped and Wiggly goes: “What happen Mommy? Daddy diving (driving) too “pass” (fast)?” When we're in the Jetta. Wiggly can normally feel the acceleration and is known to say: “Daddy going “pass” (fast).

At almost 3yrs old, Wiggly is known to watch “Barnie Miller” and “12o'clock high” - PJ and GM's shows. Not sure what he likes in Barnie Miller other than to listen to PJ laugh. He likes the airplanes on GM's show. He does ask to watch either “Polli” or “Pororo” on Daddy's phone. Movies that he watches on the computer: Thomas and friends and occasionally Barney.

Well, if I were smart, I should record Wigglyisms more often so I don't forget a tidbit and not have such a long post but, I doubt that's going to  happen.

Stumbled upon this Steven Curtis Chapman song: "Meant to Be"... love it.
