I started this post on the actual match day anniversary and here it is a few days later....
A year ago today, we were matched with our little guy! I recall how smooth the phone interview went the day prior. Then the morning of match day, our dossier was taken to committee to see if we were a match to "the little guy." About lunch time on 10/28/10 hubby received the call that made us adoptive parents of "the little guy!" Oh what a day! Yet another whole bunch more of paperwork followed of course. But we were on a roll. The acceptance paperwork was nothing compared to the prior forms we had to fill out. Nothing mattered! We had a son!
A couple weeks ago, I had started a post about our referral anniversary. But it's rather long and has a whole lot of my musings so I decided to spare everybody the long read and just share pics instead. Mostly I decided it was more for Mr Wiggly to read when the time comes. I will share this: a day or so before we got our notice about "the little guy," I had gone for a walk talking to the Lord; thanking the Lord for the loss of the "empty arms" feeling I had felt (for what seemed like forever) after our miscarriage. At the same time, I told the Lord, I would be perfectly ok with a 4-5yr old child. So when we got this email about "a little guy," I just knew this was my "4-5yr old child!" But God had other plans for us yet again :) Isn't it amazing how God works?
On with the pictures:

This month marks one year since we first saw this little guy's photo |

Here he is now! "Bugoy!" The closest translation to English: "ORNERY" |

Mr Wiggly continues to do very well with us. He is very much a happy kid. He sleeps through the night most nights. Takes his naps very well too. Yes he can be a grumpy gus at times - mostly on the days he doesn't get his usual nap times. His appetite is the same: is it time to eat yet; "I want some more of that!" We have discovered he does NOT like mashed potatoes but he is a french fry nut. He has grown 4inches since we brought him home! Must be that beef that PJ grows! His language hasn't grown much since I last updated but he continues to jabber away. Just the other day, he started saying "wook" for look; and "mow-mow" for Elmo. We know for sure he is understanding us just fine. We tell him to put his shoes away and he takes them with one hand and puts them on the rug I have designated for his shoes right next to the banister. We tell him to go get his pillow; he does. We tell him to come here and he looks at us and gives us this look of "now what? Do I really have to?" Let's just say the "come here" thing is a work in progress. Just as the parents are a work in progress.
On the anniversary of our match day, we get to have our last post placement visit with our social worker! Thank you Lord! That means, prayerfully our Mr Wiggly will be officially ours by the end of this year! Oh yeah!
Here are some catch up pictures. Enjoy!

The weekend I took this picture was what I call "break through weekend" with the cousins. He now allows 1, sometimes 2 of the little cousins to pick him up without shrieking. He still has some more adjustment left to do when it comes to the little cousins but he's coming along... slowly. I'm just glad he doesn't bite or scratch at them. I have to give it to the cousins - they are pretty patient with him despite the shrieking and squealing. He seems to have adjusted just fine with the bigger cousins. |

Hit it buddy, hit it! |

He doesn't go too far without his favorite pillow. |

Having fun with cousin S. at a friend's wedding reception. He is having the toughest time getting adjusted to cousin S. But we're working on it. I have her help with his cares indirectly when she's around so they could "hang out together." The first day he went to her to be carried and hugged by her just melted my heart. Unfortunately there's been only one other time. Work in progress.... work in progress. |
